A blueprint for Joe Douglas to rebuild the Jets in 2020

The blueprint for this offseason should be simple. Do not let free agency dictate the draft, work backwards.

We know the top two priorities are helping Sam and giving Gase everything he needs to work with. Commit to offense with the top 4 picks in the first 3 rounds. 2 WR, 2 OL.

Projected cap casualties of (Williamson, Winters, Roberts, Bellamy, Trumaine) put cap space around $75-80M

$12M on draft picks, $8M per for Jenkins, $7M per for Poole. $30M on priority number 1 of OL. 2 of Conklin, Scherff, or Thuney, or more realistically, 1 + Beachum around $25M combined.

Still leaves only about $25M with lots of holes.

Robby Anderson is unrealistic. Major OLB/CB also unrealistic, those can wait until 2021. Remaining cap space on depth (Maulet, Hairston, Copeland, Hewitt, Powell, Montgomery, Lewis) if at the right price. Mid-round picks at CB/OLB. If unable to save money with Enunwa bring him back and hope he stays healthy or replace with vet.

Hopefully extend Adams with 2020 cap number staying similar

XFL kickers and punters

3-4 new OL, 2 new WR, plus Herndon + Mosley return, and maybe utilize Bell correctly

Dude you’re been pessimistic and not creative with the Money flexibility we will have.

There are no guarantees in the draft, from whichever direction you want to approach it from. If you can solidify the O Line in free agency, you do it. Yeah, Wirfs or Bechton could be there at 11, but is that a guarantee Sam will be upright the majority of the season?… Vs a proven player?? I do agree 100% that we select the best OLM or WR available at 11 though, and get the 2nd piece with our 2nd pick. I’d like to see a worthy corner in the 3rd. Try to find an edge rusher via free agency, or pick one next year with our 1st pick.

I’m not on the boat with cutting Avery, his cap hit is like 7 million his injury happened in the preseason so he should be 100% by game one of 2020 and the only thing better then a good MLB is two of them.good job on the video

Wrong approach. Best franchises draft best player available. Bad teams pick base on need. We’re not a good team. We only have 6 picks right now, so that comes out at about $8M-10M.
Nooooooooooo to Beachum. Hell noooooo to C.Edoga.
