Bears Offseason Tracker 2020: Grades For Free Agent Signings, Draft Picks, Nick Foles Trade & UDFAs

Chicago Bears Offseason has been a whirlwind after a busy NFL Free Agency & 2020 NFL Draft. While Chicago can still make some moves, host Harrison Graham recaps the Bears Offseason Moves with today’s 2020 Bears Offseason Tracker.

Mother’s Day is almost here, so get your mother or wife some flowers and/or gifts! Harrison’s got you covered with 15% off everything at ProFlowers: http://chatsports.com/flowers

The Bears notable free agency additions included Robert Quinn, Jimmy Graham & Ted Ginn Jr. Chicago also re-signed Danny Trevathan and added Tashaun Gipson. The Bears made some noise when they traded a 4th round pick for Nick Foles. Should Chicago have waited for Andy Dalton to become a free agent? Chicago lost Nick Kwiatkoski & Ha Ha Clinton-Dix in free agency and released Prince Amukamara, Taylor Gabriel, Leonard Floyd & Trey Burton.

The Bears added 7 players in the 2020 NFL Draft. Chicago selected Cole Kmet & Jaylon Johnson in Round 2 before adding Trevis Gipson, Kindle Vildor, Darnell Mooney, Arlington Hambright & Lachavious Simmons on Day 3 of the draft. The Bears also added 11 UDFAs including Ledarius Mack, Khalil Mack’s younger brother.

Foles trade: D. They wanted competition, but also someone who won’t cause a stir if they sat behind trubisky

The Bears had a decent off season given their circumstances. However until they get a true “franchise” QB they will not be serious Super Bowl contenders. Trubisky might set them back a decade or more.

    #Bears

Lets get something straight, we have completed the rule of 3 with Mack, hicks, and Quinn. This defense can be elite, I even believe this can be the best defense to ever play pro football. just think, you have hicks Goldman on the line, WITH Quinn and Mack rushing from the sides, there will be little to no double teams because of the rule of 3. Not only that we got Danny and roquan behind them then i believe a insane group of corners and safeties with Jackson, Gibson in safety and fuller and Johnson at corners. Every player on this defense is a top 10 or will be a top 10 player in their position. This defense could be absolutely insane but we will have to wait until the season to see them go ham.

Now to the offense… Let me cover our wide receiver core real quick WR1 Robinson WR2 Miller WR3 Patterson WR4 Wims WR5 Ginn WR6 Ridley and I believe Mooney will get some snaps like ridley did last year. Overall this WR core is strong and with the speed of Ginn and Patterson we have insane route runners in A-rob and miller and speed with Patterson and ginn. Overall great WR core. I’ll save o-line until the end. Lets go QB’s. I believe Foles will win the QB battle. He has a better deep ball and better short ball than tru does. Now he might not have the legs that Tru has but if the o-line can get to an average rating with the pickups and new o-line coach, he might not need to use his legs all to much. So I have QB1 Foles and QB2 Trubisky. Now to tight ends. Cole Kmet was a great pick up and I finally realize what the Jimmy graham pickup was for. The reason they picked him up is because it was their intention to draft kmet with their first pick. They believe that with some mentoring from a player who was great in his prime, they can turn Kmet into a Austin Hooper or even a George Kittle. Now for the o-line… I’m going to be honest I have no clue. The things i believe will happen is that ifedi will beat rashaad coward for the RG spot. And I believe Jason Spriggs will beat Charles Leno unless Leno realizes he is in jeopardy and goes back to his pro bowl 2018 self. Reply what you guys think will happen with the o-line.

Overall with the insane strength the defense has and the potential the offense has, this could be a season to remember for the Chicago Bears. With the defense in my opinion having the potential to be the best defense to play pro football and the possibility that the o-line could be OK, i could see this team going 11-5 as a low, now it is hard for me to say this, because it has only happened once before, and their are many other great football teams in the NFL today, I could see them going 16-0. This is a stretch but if the o-line can become average/just-above average, and Foles or Trubisky can lead this offense to the strength they had it in 2018 or greater, this team has the roster and the desire to go undefeated. If you made it this far thank you for reading. And I will see you all later. If you have something to say, good or bad, about y predictions reply to this comment. Bear Down!!

Kwiatkoskii was a draft pick and developed into a very good player, I will miss and would have taken him over trevathan. Gipson was a good pick up but what I fail to understand is why sign Ginn Jr. and Davis after drafting Mooney. That draft pick could have gone to an offensive lineman

  24. Nathan Thomas on June 26, 2020 at 8:47 pm

If were going to switch to running more 2 TE sets, the off. could score more…….. the D just made strides to return to 2018 form. I like our chances this season . 11-5

  25. Oillia King-Johns on June 26, 2020 at 8:48 pm

I think Nick Foles will be the backup and if he starts the season as a starter he’ll lose his job like he did everywhere else. With that said I do like the signing of him because it’ll be good for Mitchell Trubisky. Remember how good it worked out for Kyle Fuller. Mitchell Trubisky will prove his doubters wrong.

Solid B for entire offseason. I do think we got better. To be honest I think we have a roster that can compete for a super bowl but it’s all up to the QBs.

I now understand the Jimmy Graham signing there plan was all along to draft Cole and have him come in under Jimmy to help groom him and show him how to be a pro. The offense still has not improved because there is still no proven offensive guard to help this line. They have to get this offensive line together. Hopefully this new offensive line coach can put this thing together.

The Bears got better this off season

  37. MysticRizz _ on June 26, 2020 at 8:56 pm

A- We got better depth at wr and we can easily replace Gabriel with Mooney, Ridley, or ginn. Our o line improve a little bit but not too much that’s the biggest flag. But Foles will either make Trubisky better or replace him so automatic upgrade. Upgraded drastically at te which Is big in nagys offense. As for defense we got a lot better plus we have people coming off injuries like hicks, trevathan, Smith. We got better at pass rush with Quinn, and our secondary also improves with johnson and Gipson. With a third place schedule, the best D in the league and in improved offense I think we can for sure have a solid 11-5 season.

I think Johnson will have a big year. Our pass rush is to good and nobody wants to throw on fuller so he should see alot of action. He reads and reacts well so he could be in for a 3+ pick 6 type of season if hes ready!!! Bear Down!!!

  50. Erase the Hate on June 26, 2020 at 9:12 pm

    The Offseason is a B+
#1 Nick Foles is a upgrade over Mitch
#2 Quinn is a Huge Upgrade!!!
#3 Cole & Graham are better what they had. And Foles is known for throwing to the TE’s
#4 They are better at safety with a better tackling Gipson so Jackson can play his natural position at FS
Johnson is a improvement over Prince who had lost a step
(So they got better at Impact positions)

They paid for those moves by cutting Prince, Floyd, and Gabriel (who had multiple concussion issues) Gabriel and Prince still cannot find teams that want them.

The team went from 12-4 to 8-8 not because of the players they replaced. But because of Key injuries to Hicks, Travathian, Gabriel, Massie, & Long (who had to retire he was so hurt and bad)

The only reason the team did not get a "A" grade is because of not seriously addressing the RG but I believe Alex Bars (who should have been a 2nd round pick if he wasn’t injured)

So the answer is Yes they are not only improved by being healthier but more talented in the most important areas of football QB, Pass Rush, & coverage.

With the severe loss of Pro bowl talent on Minnesota and a few Pro bowl losses on Green bay the Bears are ready to take back the Division 11-5
