  3. Kelly Young on June 25, 2020 at 9:09 pm

B this guy had 4 TDs against Alabama this is a solid pick

  4. Aaron Cowlishaw on June 25, 2020 at 9:10 pm

Round 2 Willie Gay Jr LB – C-
Why because you don’t spend a quality pick on someone with off the field issues like this because no matter how talented he is if he is not on the field he can’t help you. I would have been more likely to try for him in say early day 3 round 4

  5. PrfctPlyr on June 25, 2020 at 9:11 pm

Had to turn it off when you said helaire was a C smh

Dude, you don’t know the Chiefs very well. Your draft methodology is the same as the Cleveland Browns

  8. John Carter on June 25, 2020 at 9:19 pm

    1st round pick grade B.
I was intrigued to see what this offense would look like with a bonafide RB.
D-Will is good but I want to see a more talented RB perform.
I was hoping for D’Andre Swift or J.K. Dobbins but we’ll have to see what this kid can do.

  20. John Wiggins on June 25, 2020 at 9:36 pm

Dude the Clyde Edwards pick was much better than a C

  21. king war on June 25, 2020 at 9:40 pm

I want to see Willie gay jr

  22. Neil Orear on June 25, 2020 at 9:40 pm

This was a different draft situation all together outside of Edwards-Helaire it was based heavily on "SPARQ heroes" because of social distancing. so my grade is a B with everything considered

  23. Aaron Cowlishaw on June 25, 2020 at 9:42 pm

In my opinion I would give them a C grade

  24. JON BOSS on June 25, 2020 at 9:42 pm

    Where’s "BoPeep?"

  25. Brady Maher on June 25, 2020 at 9:44 pm

I think Clyde was a B at least. We didn’t need a running back necessarily, but I don’t think this pick is gonna do us negative

  26. Aaron Cowlishaw on June 25, 2020 at 9:47 pm

    Round 1 Clyde Edwards Helaire – C
Why because you could have moved back and still got him in early round 2 or got another good back later

  27. Jeffrey Locke on June 25, 2020 at 9:48 pm

    "Y"

  28. Elner Ferguson on June 25, 2020 at 9:49 pm

Kansas City chiefs I want you guys to make my dream come true to get Odell Beckham jr.

  29. MoKXGu1 on June 25, 2020 at 9:51 pm

    Niang looks promising !

  30. John Wiggins on June 25, 2020 at 9:52 pm

I personally think making the amazing offense even better is a good call. They still got good players for the d and not only that but they gained more talent then they lost on the d this off-season.

  31. Yo Yo on June 25, 2020 at 9:52 pm

it wasn’t a RB by committee when Kareem Hunt was the starter. It was obvious that RB spot needed a talent upgrade.

  32. Peter Lustig on June 25, 2020 at 9:53 pm

Grade this Video F who is this ?

  33. TheWhiteWhale on June 25, 2020 at 9:54 pm

Kc had a bottom 10 running game. Mahomes led the team in rushing in 2 of 3 playoff games. Williams had 3 good games in a 19 game stretch. Plus he’s always dinged up.

To be clear… running for kc should be easy. All they do is face 5 and 6 man deep fronts (safety way back)

It was a need. Without question. None of our guys are NFL starting material.

  34. Rachel D on June 25, 2020 at 9:56 pm

    All A’s

  35. Gurd Wurd on June 25, 2020 at 9:56 pm

when you think clyde wont start

  36. Robin Ghimire on June 25, 2020 at 9:57 pm

As much as I like DW we did needed a RB. We needed a guy like Hunt. I can see that with CEH. I absolutely disagree with your "C" grade. In an average offense an excellent RB won’t make a big impact but in a good offense like Chiefs it will make them even more stronger( take Bell to Steelers for instance). I can see cheifs being even better than last year and we just won the Superbowl. That’s some scary shit

  37. Nathan Peoples on June 25, 2020 at 9:57 pm

As for the red flags with Willie Gay Jr, Andy Reid has always liked to give players a second chance. Some could say it is a flaw, but some people shine when they get a fair chance or second chance.
I hope he matures as well

  38. Z J on June 25, 2020 at 10:00 pm

We could of used more help on the line or at d back but i am satisfied

For those nerds who hate this pick just because it’s a RB in the first round – get your noses out of your data and get into the real world – and I say this as an analytic person myself (in baseball – where it is far more applicable than football).

The SUPER BOWL CHAMPION CHIEFS are in WIN NOW mode. The Chiefs had no running back on the roster that has carried the load over a full NFL season. Damien Williams is a good back – when healthy – and his staying healthy during a season has yet to occur. Darwin Thompson is – like Clyde Edwards-Helaire – a small but stout running back. The difference is the Edwards-Helaire is a few steps up the rung in terms of talent. Recent pickup DeAndre Washington is just a complementary back – nothing more – who played with Mahomes at Texas Tech.

While there may have been a couple of RB who are "better" than Edwards-Helaire, no back in the draft fits the Chiefs as well. This was a perfect fit – which is more important. As for the "value" or supposed lack-of in drafting a RB in the first round, it doesn’t apply here for a couple of reasons.

A team controls a first round pick for an extra season. This is a huge point for a team that appears to be in prime position to compete for Super Bowls for the next five seasons. The problem teams run into is when they select a stud RB early in the first round, but aren’t that competitive while the stud RB racks up outstanding seasons, and then, when his rookie contract is up, they can’t afford to pay him. The next team that is dumb enough to then sign the RB also discovers it wasn’t worth the money. The Chiefs are not in either position. They are winning now, and they have some cap issues, so a stud RB on the cheap is exactly what they need to complete the offense.

Another point – the worst thing an organization can do is rest on their laurels when they have a stud QB and believe they don’t have to continue to build up the offense around him.

Look at Green Bay – an organization that has wasted the talent of Aaron Rodgers because they foolishly believe they only need to surround Rodgers with decent but lower-tiered players. What a waste of a career. They never draft a stud WR or RB to complement Rodgers. Hey – no QB – not Rodgers, not Manning, not Mahomes – is going to fulfill that common fallacy that says "he’s good enough to make any player around him that much better." The fallacy is in the phrase "that much better." If the player the QB is going to make that much better is only an average player (or worse), he may end up being a "better-than-average" player, but hardly a stud.

Remember Dan Marino? Great QB. Who was the stud RB on the Dolphins during his prime years when he first entered the NFL and tore up the statbook? I’ll wait. Actually, I’ll save you the trouble – he never had one. His top receivers (remember the "Marks Brothers"?) were, in reality, far from elite. Marino made them look far better than they were, but, again, the point is that he could only raise them up so much.

I have read that the Chiefs should have traded back a few picks to select him in the 2nd round. The problem is that you lose that very important fifth year control of the player. Why is that so difficult to understand. Yeah, if it was the Jets, it would not have made sense, but this is the Chiefs – they are prime to keep winning for the next five seasons. Why these dorks fail to see this is laughable.

It’s good to have Linebackers with anger issues….take out the frustration on the field!

  42. Michael Bauer on June 25, 2020 at 10:03 pm

We have really good locker room guys on the defensive side of the ball to keep gay in line….. I don’t think they’ll cut Larry after he just restructured his deal.

    A

  44. Shaft 2020 on June 25, 2020 at 10:04 pm

The best player the Chiefs draft you gave a "C"?? That is a "A+". I can’t watch this anymore

  45. Star Sportscards on June 25, 2020 at 10:04 pm

C for Edwards-Helaire is just stupid. SMH We’re already a an elite offense and CEH just took it to another level.

  46. Brady Maher on June 25, 2020 at 10:05 pm

I think Willie Gay is gonna be a stud. And we know how to fix people with behavioral issues

  47. Michael DB on June 25, 2020 at 10:05 pm

You dont know what you are talking about if CEH is a C

  48. Kevin Davis Sr on June 25, 2020 at 10:06 pm

The Chiefs get a B for the 7 rounds and B over all would have taken hall

  49. Jeffrey Locke on June 25, 2020 at 10:06 pm

With health a question and injuries that can happen I like the pick and give it an "A-" because running with a lead is a strength. It uses the clock and makes 1st downs.
