The 1987 AFC Championship game between the Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos featured a play so infamous that it would go on to be known simply as “The Fumble.”
Love byner but this was coming. He fumbled game before bed clots. Then against colts again at 4 yrs line. The stage was set for a colossal fumble. What a comeback though.
I remember this game like it was yesterday .. I pulled for The Browns at that time because they seemed to be the laughingstocks annually … Nothing has changed seemingly ..Β Β Β Just one day soon …Just one day

Jeez, you gotta feel bad for Cleveland fans…and I just started watching the NFL a week ago. Hope their franchise is back on their feet in a couple of seasons, they didn’t have the luck in the past nor in the recent seasons (and I see the current one is a real tragedy).
Byner had almost 190 yards from scrimmage and was the main reason Cleveland was able to trim that 18 point deficit to and in position to tie. It wasnβt like they were down 4, they were down 7, it was far from a guarantee that Cleveland would win, it would have gone to OT.
The defense deserves the main blame for the loss. When you give up 38 points, the chances of winning are slim. Castille also deserves more credit for the strip.
Luckily for byner he got a ring with the redskins, scoring a TD in the SB as well.
Thank god he fumbled. If he didnβt fumble the ball the redskins would have possibly not won super bowl 22 and not make super bowl 26 and the Baltimore Ravens would definitely not exist because of cleaveland making the Super Bowl and he owner finding success meaning that there is no need to move to baltimore
I have to say, Browns fans are the most loyal fans ever, The Fumble, The Drive, and all the other heartbreaking things that have happened to Cleveland make them really good fans.
In this video I noticed two plays where Jeremiah Castille participated that resulted in a change of possession. MVP. The first one was in Brian Brennen he got his arm in the way of the football it was deflected and intercepted and resulted (following series) in a touchdown. In pretty sure Denver claimed Castille off waivers from Tampa Bay. What a great effort. Incredible.
BRONCOS I HATE YOUR TEAM SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘π‘
then Denver goes and get destroyed by Washington but the browns would of beat Washington because the browns were the best team that year if you watched the games
" There’s a GLEAM men! Marty, Marty , Marty….5-13 career in the playoffs! What " gleam" you chocking head coach of all time! Esp. these 86′ & 87′ Browns, were great teams with " NO GLEAMS!"
What does this have to do with a fumble? Number 23 takes the ball on the 22 yd line and danced through four pathetic attempts at tackling, the last two guys patting him on the back as he skirted down the sideline. Admittedly, he should have held that ball like a momma bear holds her cubs. Oh well.
Browns were the best team in the league but they were cursed like no other team before.Browns should’ve won 2 Supebowls in the 80’s.
Big Blue Wrecking Crew still would’ve crushed them no matter who won this game
Get this fricken video off of YouTube
this play derailed the franchise for 30 years
it sucks because everyone blames him but the offense turned the ball over like 5 times before that
The fumble? This game should have been called The Shitty Tackling

This is why I hate the broncos
the Browns should’ve won in both ’86 and ’87
Hey at least my 80s Brown s won games!!!
Poor Cleveland
Earnest Byner is now a Bus Driver for Brightspark in Washington D.C. I swear to god he drove the "girls bus" for our school trip.
It would be nice if they actually told us how much time was on the clock or what down it was when the fumble happened.
I remember this game like it was yesterday .. I pulled for The Browns at that time because they seemed to be the laughingstocks annually … Nothing has changed seemingly ..Β Β Β Just one day soon …Just one day
Cleveland `17 Bronco’s 16 , In Denver 2018 – pushed them right onto a Koufax Street bar #screwdenver #gobrowns
The day I divorced the Clowns of the land!
Then the Broncos met the New York Giants in the Super Bowl and the rest is history.
Sometimes, as a Miami sports fan, I feel bad at the moment. But then I look at Cleveland, and I feel alright. Poor guys
2 hell w / byner , the STEELERS should have been N that game. , but we sucked that year so disregard. βΉ
And then Ernst Byner left Cleveland and won a Superbowl with Washington, the end.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Byner’s in the endzone
The ball is on the two
I had a friend that was from Ohio and pulled out his pistol and shot a hole in the refrigerator after this fumble!
Believeland brought me here.
That fumble in the endzone is why the Seahawks threw it. Good call
Friggin byner, baker will make it up
Haha…Cleveland really does suck.
At least they didn’t throw it at the 1 like Russel Wilsonπ
I watched this game when I was seven. How did the Browns even make it so far into the playoffs? They played some undisciplined ball.

I like the Cowboys now so
Byner will always be the Billy Buckner of football!!!!

Baker Mayfield is going to change it all, guys.
I’m not even a browns fan and this pains me to watch.
I always hated elway, but damn he had a nuclear missle for an arm.
I know this game is remembered for that fumble, but jeez let’s talk about 2 turnovers leading to 14 Denver points and horrible tackling at 1:10.

OH MY GOD. I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY CUT OFF THE MISSISSIPPI MUD WALK
2:06 the saddest moment for the Browns
Did anyone come back here after the broncos game today! In front of John Elways own eyes!!! YES
us browns fans will never forget this until we actually win one of these things

Why does the game look more fun than todayβs games??
I was 9 years during this game. I cried all night. I was heartbroken.
