"The Monsoon Bowl" | NFL Classic Game Highlights
"The Monsoon Bowl" | NFL Classic Game Highlights
On September 25th, 2011, the Jaguars and Panthers participated in one of the craziest weather games in NFL history. There were no delays in this game because rain was the only problem. Rain poured down for most of the game, starting in the second quarter and eventually flooding the field and stands. Enjoy the highlights from this game.

I played in a high school game that was like this the field was total mud hole. Had a blast cept we lost the game
Ridiculous! But great game by that Jaguars RB.
Who else was at this game?
When Cam was Cam
Lived in North Carolina that day and I still remember the forecast saying “it’ll go away in a hour or so it shouldn’t be that much”
I love the score 3-5. Actually I like 10-5 more. But 10-8 is pretty good too.
Let’s pass in the rain coach
*Settings for a custom Madden game*
How much rain do you want? "Yes"
Imagine if this was a real grass field I don’t think you could even play on it with so much mud afterwards AND during the game
we watched the game from the high rise building next door..lol. We had the binocular glasses and had the radio on the game. was actually pretty awesome…lol.
Blaine Gabbert… He exists solely to remind us he was drafted before J.J. Watt…
5:45 …he hit the water, not the ground…geeze, if we had a flag on a floating footer, that could have been an illegal call.
Any NFL game with severe inclement weather (monsoon rains, sub-zero temperatures, a half-foot of snow during the game, etc.) should be mandatory nationally televised, preempting all other games and even non-football programming. It’s just so damn awesome to see such uncommon variables thrown into the otherwise repetitious game play, and seeing how the players, officials, coaches, and even fans adjust to the conditions. I love this game anyway, but days like this remind me why.
Am I the only one noticing how freakin clean the uniforms are despite them sliding in the mud?
Girls in the rain: 9:45
Boys in the rain: 5:23
Steelers/Dolphins from MNF will always be my favorite awful weather game.
RIP all the cellphones in the stands
Blaine gabbert will forever remember (if 8:47 is true) that his first career touchdown pass was in heavy HEAVY rain. Pretty cool i guess
This is how football should be played, in the outdoors in the weather.
Imagine celebrating almost losing to Jacksonville. 🤣
I cant tell if this looks like so much fun or a miserable experience
This also could’ve been called "The Butter Bowl"
I believe I attended this game.
That actually looked like a lot of fun.
Wouldn’t all their phones get wet?
Should have signed Michael Phelps.
Everything fun and all until u get in your car
The rain starts at 2:49
Rain games were the best games we ever played (Florida high school, we got a lot) every play was a potential slip n slide
Cam Newton definitely belongs in the conversation with Le’Veon Bell and Jay Cutler as laziest fucks on a football field.
What I do not understand is that college football will call these kinds of games off or delay them until the weather gets better. Why? This is football. You brave the elements, period.
I bet even at that skill level, at that height of competitiveness, every player at least once went "this is fun." It sure looks like it was a blast to play in.
I feel like the offensive players would’ve just been better off to take their gloves off in this weather. Fingers pruning up would actually increase grip since that adaptation is specifically there for humans to increase grip when wet. Just an interesting thought though I wonder if it’d be true or not.
Blaine Gabbert starting QB HAHAHAHAHAHA
I’m waiting for the day an NFL stadium floods, so we can call it the Fish Bowl.
Imagine if this game was played in Candlestick Park, that field was horrid!! This would have been the Mud Bog Bowl!
Nothing more fun than playing in the mud!
16-10. I wonder if that was scorigami when it happened
What I’m surprised at is how they didn’t start slipping and sliding with all that rain on the field I get they were cleats but you can still slip
Ahhh seeing MJD and Rasheen Mathis…… That rain is my tears cuz I miss those dudes playing for Jax. Also the slides should have counted as yards
It’s funny seeing the players sliding around on the ground
12:20 , phantom holding call. Was this the year the panthers won almost every game?
The jaggs had a cool green color on there helmets that year should have capt them
20% chance of rain sike
Awesome Game
Cams a n word.
And thanks to Global Warming, things have changed
4:19 i couldnt keep track of the ball 😂
Those fans were troopers. It’s funny because the uniforms are still clean.
You know what they’d do if this happened now? Lie and say there was a lightning strike somewhere nearby.
