"The Monsoon Bowl" | NFL Classic Game Highlights

On September 25th, 2011, the Jaguars and Panthers participated in one of the craziest weather games in NFL history. There were no delays in this game because rain was the only problem. Rain poured down for most of the game, starting in the second quarter and eventually flooding the field and stands. Enjoy the highlights from this game.

  5. Ryan on February 19, 2020 at 6:21 pm

Lived in North Carolina that day and I still remember the forecast saying “it’ll go away in a hour or so it shouldn’t be that much”

I love the score 3-5. Actually I like 10-5 more. But 10-8 is pretty good too.

How much rain do you want? "Yes"

  9. Grant Rawlins on February 19, 2020 at 6:25 pm

Imagine if this was a real grass field I don’t think you could even play on it with so much mud afterwards AND during the game

  10. Damned Soul on February 19, 2020 at 6:26 pm

Blaine Gabbert… He exists solely to remind us he was drafted before J.J. Watt…

  12. malcolm clark on February 19, 2020 at 6:31 pm

5:45 …he hit the water, not the ground…geeze, if we had a flag on a floating footer, that could have been an illegal call.

Any NFL game with severe inclement weather (monsoon rains, sub-zero temperatures, a half-foot of snow during the game, etc.) should be mandatory nationally televised, preempting all other games and even non-football programming. It’s just so damn awesome to see such uncommon variables thrown into the otherwise repetitious game play, and seeing how the players, officials, coaches, and even fans adjust to the conditions. I love this game anyway, but days like this remind me why.

Am I the only one noticing how freakin clean the uniforms are despite them sliding in the mud?

  15. Noah C on February 19, 2020 at 6:35 pm

    Boys in the rain: 5:23

  18. Mr. Grim 501st on February 19, 2020 at 6:39 pm

Blaine gabbert will forever remember (if 8:47 is true) that his first career touchdown pass was in heavy HEAVY rain. Pretty cool i guess

  19. Mark B Fensler on February 19, 2020 at 6:40 pm

This is how football should be played, in the outdoors in the weather.

  20. Like Zoinks on February 19, 2020 at 6:41 pm

Imagine celebrating almost losing to Jacksonville. 🤣

  21. Iconik on February 19, 2020 at 6:41 pm

  22. That Boy on February 19, 2020 at 6:42 pm

    The rain starts at 2:49

  29. Ben Renner on February 19, 2020 at 6:50 pm

Rain games were the best games we ever played (Florida high school, we got a lot) every play was a potential slip n slide

  30. Al Depantchu on February 19, 2020 at 6:52 pm

Cam Newton definitely belongs in the conversation with Le’Veon Bell and Jay Cutler as laziest fucks on a football field.

  31. Matt Smith on February 19, 2020 at 6:53 pm

What I do not understand is that college football will call these kinds of games off or delay them until the weather gets better. Why? This is football. You brave the elements, period.

  32. corvettez06usa on February 19, 2020 at 6:55 pm

I bet even at that skill level, at that height of competitiveness, every player at least once went "this is fun." It sure looks like it was a blast to play in.

  33. Zach Spencer on February 19, 2020 at 6:55 pm

I feel like the offensive players would’ve just been better off to take their gloves off in this weather. Fingers pruning up would actually increase grip since that adaptation is specifically there for humans to increase grip when wet. Just an interesting thought though I wonder if it’d be true or not.

  34. bookmdano on February 19, 2020 at 6:56 pm

    Blaine Gabbert starting QB HAHAHAHAHAHA

  35. Jonathan_407 on February 19, 2020 at 6:57 pm

I’m waiting for the day an NFL stadium floods, so we can call it the Fish Bowl.

  36. Mario Gillette on February 19, 2020 at 6:59 pm

Imagine if this game was played in Candlestick Park, that field was horrid!! This would have been the Mud Bog Bowl!

  37. James Sn on February 19, 2020 at 6:59 pm

Nothing more fun than playing in the mud!

  38. Zimeatsgirswaffles on February 19, 2020 at 7:01 pm

16-10. I wonder if that was scorigami when it happened

  39. Teonna A on February 19, 2020 at 7:01 pm

What I’m surprised at is how they didn’t start slipping and sliding with all that rain on the field I get they were cleats but you can still slip

  40. surfing nerd621 on February 19, 2020 at 7:02 pm

Ahhh seeing MJD and Rasheen Mathis…… That rain is my tears cuz I miss those dudes playing for Jax. Also the slides should have counted as yards

  41. Left Turn Productions [LTP] on February 19, 2020 at 7:04 pm

It’s funny seeing the players sliding around on the ground

  42. Michael Kuca on February 19, 2020 at 7:06 pm

  50. bpstyles on February 19, 2020 at 7:15 pm

You know what they’d do if this happened now? Lie and say there was a lightning strike somewhere nearby.
