The Perfect Season

The 1972 Miami Dolphins football team remains the ONLY team in NFL history to have an undefeated season and secure a Super Bowl victory. They lead the league in offense and defense with a 17-0 record. In this short documentary, I take you through the 1972 season of the World Champions and greatest football team in NFL history.

Thank you Giants. Thank you Eli. The only team 2 dick down the pats twice. Us Dolphin fans have a soft spot for the big apple.

The 72 dolphins are seldom mentioned when people talk of all time great teams..being a small market team doesn t help their memory of a great year….if they were a New York LA ot a Dallas team maybe they wood get more respect..the dolphins did not schedule their games and did not have home field advantage in the AFC title game..they did what Al Davis always said……just win baby!!!

  9. exaddict on February 29, 2020 at 9:36 pm

Wow. They really just let anyone be cheerleaders back then. 17:52

Earl Morrall deserves more credit than he ever got while he was alive. Great player and a very nice man who helped to save the Dolphins perfect season in 1972.

Every single thing about football is worse now compared to the 70’s except for one thing and it’s a big difference,
    anyone know what that is?……
the Cheerleaders!!! Wow, incredible improvement. Ok, that Poly turf back then sucked, so that’s two things.

  22. Rampage630 on February 29, 2020 at 9:50 pm

It’s so ironic that the dolphins are the worst team in the league and the redskins are one of the worst teams

  23. David on February 29, 2020 at 9:52 pm

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are like the Chicago Bulls under Jordan in the Finals. Perfect season vs perfect Finals record. Tough records to beat, in a comparable capacity.

I was at Palmetto Jr High when the Great Fins went Undefeated. Family members used to drive to Orlando during the blackout games. I was always in trouble,so I couldn’t go πŸ€ͺ

  34. mike maier on February 29, 2020 at 10:03 pm

Congratulations on a Job Well Done.

This record will stand forever. Teams now have too many "Individuals" who care about Money instead of their teammates.

  35. the professor on February 29, 2020 at 10:03 pm

Super Bowl III helped Shula make the decision to put Griese in the AFC championship. Please, lets not make it anything other than that. He should have taken Morrall’s ass out against the Jets and put Unitas in.

  36. David Cobb on February 29, 2020 at 10:05 pm

CUPCAKE SCHEDULE! THE ’72 FINS DIDN’T PLAY A TEAM WITH A WINNING RECORD DURING THE REGULAR SEASON!

  37. tacey01 on February 29, 2020 at 10:05 pm

  38. B3ardeDragon on February 29, 2020 at 10:07 pm

  45. Big E on February 29, 2020 at 10:18 pm

There are a lot of guys on that team that really deserve to be in the Hall, the same way Pete Rose and Dave Concepcion deserve to be in the baseball Hall

  46. Paul Ridikas on February 29, 2020 at 10:18 pm

I hope that soon the Patriots will finally go undefeated to unseat the 1972 Miami Dolphins! I believe that it will happen! I hope that the Patriots can be the second undefeated NFL team to win a Super Bowl. I am tired of hearing the only undefeated team to win a Super Bowl is the Miami Dolphins. That can change! I know that winning all 19 games would be a great feeling.

  47. Brett Shepherd on February 29, 2020 at 10:20 pm

    Those Dolphins teams were outstanding

  48. Willie Sherman on February 29, 2020 at 10:22 pm

Unless it the Miami dolphins of the today can duplicate what they did in 72.

  49. Ty on February 29, 2020 at 10:22 pm

And now the dolphins 🐬 are πŸ’©

  50. TheRedBaron Lives! on February 29, 2020 at 10:24 pm

Not nearly the best ever, however this remains the 2nd greatest team accomplishment in U.S. sports.#1 is the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team then this.
Coach Shula got unfairly runout of Baltimore by then owner Carroll Rosenbloom who blamed him for SB3 debacle.Miami gladly took him and you know the rest.
An interesting tidbit on SB7 Washington went into the game favored by 3.5 over Unbeaten MiamiπŸ˜•
