it is probably not historically accurate but it is grand entertainment without profanity, nudity gore, handheld cameras or desaturated colors- all the items that make films today hard to watch.

I don’t think I’ve seen this movie since I was eight years old, on the big screen. Maybe once since. The dun Icelandic pony Kirk rides at the beginning is an image that never left me. But, Kirk, I know it looks more dramatic, but quit yanking on that poor beast’s mouth like that. It hurts. I loved the sight of the ,ittle white colt following its mama when the whole place is rushing to meet the boats. I think I heard a brief hint of Grieg, Solveig’s Song, as the boar rowed into the fjord.

  31. Brian Winters on January 28, 2021 at 8:56 pm

The English lord here was the senior English pow in the great escape. In the movie he was always identified as the senior british office.

  38. raisethebar on January 28, 2021 at 9:03 pm

somehow I doubt that 12th century women wore bullet bras. Other aspects of the film are entertaining.

  42. Aaron on January 28, 2021 at 9:09 pm

I first this movie as a young boy in elementary school back in the 50’s, and what mesmerized me the most was the scenery and the music, and the last scene. Hearing the music again is just as stirring as it was then. The action was fantastic and the cultural aspects of English and Viking behavior was a source of great curiosity being raised in the South as a black person. The scene of the hawk attacking Douglas stood out vividly throughout my youth.

  43. flash tech on January 28, 2021 at 9:10 pm

unbelievable they put a warning on this movie at the beginning..

  44. Doc truth on January 28, 2021 at 9:10 pm

Most of todays male actors are more believable playing the part of Janet Leigh !

  45. CJ JENSON on January 28, 2021 at 9:14 pm

All of Kirk’s friends left this earth before him.
Everyone in this movie led the way.
While I wasn’t there, I hope he got his viking funeral!
At 103, he deserved ever respect!

  46. Scott George on January 28, 2021 at 9:14 pm

Watched as a boy, laughed at the accents of Americans in the film. Hollywood interpretation of history!
